Despite the weird weather, and my 'just shove it in' approach, I was quite pleased with the veg I grew. The King Edwards and Desiree potatoes weren't hugely plentiful but they were in great condition when they came out of the ground and have kept really well too - I'll definately grow them again next year. Pink fir apples didn't do so well, I had to bin half of them because of slug damage and possibly a level of blight. Maris peer and rocket seemed to do alright, just not as in great nick as the main crop varieties.
My waterbutt runneth over |
In other Autumn allotment news, I now have a mountain of lovely horse manure maturing for the spring, the swiss chard looks great as do the cauliflowers. I put a few brassicas in quite late in the season so I doubt they'll do very much but it's worth a go. The plan is to dig over as much of the plot as possible before winter so next year I'm slightly ahead of the game and I might even try to do some successive sowing...
Oh, and the waterbutt is full.
